Bill Horton
University Hospital Aintree

From being eight, Bill wanted to be a dentist.
After funding his way through Medical School, he pursued a career in Anaesthesia.
He has taught in the USA in a Level One Trauma Centre.
At the University Hospital Aintree he has successfully held a number of managerial, leadership and teaching roles in Anaesthesia, Theatres, Critical Care, Resuscitation, Ethics and Day Surgery.
For a decade, his main passion has been Day Surgery.
He was recruited by the MA and Health Authority to the role of Clinical Champion.
After the dissolution of both organisations, he was deemed so effective that he was retained with the extended remit of Clinical Lead for Improvement.
He has lectured countrywide on a variety of topics from the BADS portfolio of interests. He is the orchestrator of the Cheshire & Merseyside DS Network.
He is currently undertaking innovative original work with PCT’s on commissioning care closer to patients.
He endeavours that BADS remain at the forefront of healthcare system re-design.
Implicit in this is Blue Sky Thinking, Education and Workforce Development.
He looks forward to seeing you all again in Southport (ASM 2009), for which he undertook the groundwork for BADS Council.
