Joe Cahill

Mr J Cahill is a Consultant Surgeon. He held the post of Honorary Secretary of BADS until demitting office in 2005. Clinical interests include upper gastrointestinal and hepato-biliary surgery in addition to minimally invasive and ambulatory surgery.
Mr Cahill was educated at St John’s College, Cambridge, and King’s College Hospital Medical School, London. His surgical training on the St George’s Hospital programme included St James’ Hospital Balham, and was completed at the Westminster Hospital.
Research interests in obstructive jaundice led to the Master of Surgery degree of the University of Cambridge in 1985, and he was awarded a Hunterian Professorship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the foundation Lister Professorship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh the same year. Clinical research interests include splenic salvage, biodegradable materials in surgery, management of oesophagogastric cancer anastomotic techniques.
